Governors
Governing Body
The role of the governing board is a strategic one with three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial management of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
At Falconbrook we have implemented the Circle Model of Governance. This structure is designed to enhance collaboration, accountability, and community engagement. This innovative approach empowers all governors who meet at least six times a year.
How the Circle Model Works:
In our Circle Model, each governor is assigned a “link governor” responsibility, connecting them directly to key aspects of our school, such as curriculum, safeguarding, special educational needs, and community engagement. This structure fosters deeper understanding and involvement in our school’s operations.
Key Features:
- Collaborative Leadership: Governors work together in circles, promoting shared decision-making and encouraging diverse perspectives. This collaboration enhances strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.
- Focused Oversight: Each link governor maintains regular communication with staff and stakeholders in their area of responsibility. This ensures that they can effectively monitor progress, identify challenges, and celebrate successes.
- Transparent Reporting: Link governors provide regular updates to the governing body, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. This helps ensure that all governors are informed and engaged in the school’s journey.
- Community Engagement: Our governors actively seek input from parents, pupils, and community members, ensuring that our school remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of those we serve.
- Continuous Professional Development: We support our governors with training and resources tailored to their link responsibilities, empowering them to contribute effectively and confidently.
Through the Circle Model of Governance, we aim to create a supportive and dynamic environment where every voice matters, and our school thrives as a community.
